Privacy Policy

Last updated: 11 August 2026

1. What We Collect

  • Account information: your email address, used solely for signing you in (via a passwordless magic link) and, if you opt in separately, for email updates.
  • Content you create: saved verses and notes, prayer journal entries, and chat conversations tied to your account.
  • Usage data: daily counts of chat questions and prayer generations (to apply free-tier and fair-use limits), and reading/prayer/devotional streak activity.
  • Anonymous usage: if you use Chat without signing in, we log a hashed (irreversible) version of your IP address to enforce a daily question limit. We do not store your actual IP address, and this hashed value cannot be used to identify you.
  • Payment information: if you subscribe to Premium, payment is handled entirely by Stripe, our payment processor. We never see or store your card details — we only receive confirmation that a payment succeeded or a subscription's status.

2. What We Don't Do

  • We do not sell your data to anyone.
  • We do not use your prayer journal, saved verses, or chat history for advertising.
  • We do not show ads or allow advertisers to access any of your data.
  • Your journal entries and chat conversations are private to your account — not visible to other users, and not read by us except as needed to operate or debug the service.

3. Chat Feedback

If you rate a chat answer with thumbs up/down, that feedback — including the question, the answer, and any note you add — is visible to us for improving the service. It is not visible to other users, including if you submitted it while signed in.

4. Who We Share Data With

We use a small number of service providers to run ScriptureCompanion AI:

  • Supabase — hosts our database and handles authentication.
  • Anthropic — processes chat messages and prayer requests to generate AI responses. Messages sent to Anthropic are used to generate your response; see Anthropic's own privacy policy for how they handle API data.
  • Stripe — processes Premium subscription payments.
  • Vercel — hosts the application itself.

We don't share your data with any other third party, and none of these providers are permitted to use your data for their own marketing purposes.

5. Your Rights

You can delete individual saved verses and journal entries yourself, anytime, from within the app. To delete your entire account and all associated data, or to request a copy of your data, email support@scripturecompanion.ai. If you're in Australia, these rights are consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988.

6. Cookies & Local Storage

See our separate Cookies Policy for details on the cookies and browser storage we use.

7. Children's Privacy

ScriptureCompanion AI is not specifically directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent. If you believe a child has created an account without appropriate consent, please contact us and we will remove the account.

8. Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify account holders directly.

9. Contact

Questions about this policy or your data can be sent to support@scripturecompanion.ai.
