Explanation
1 Chronicles 9:37 is a purely genealogical verse — it simply lists four names: Gedor, Ahio, Zechariah, and Mikloth. There is no narrative, command, or theological statement embedded in the verse itself; it functions as one link in a longer chain of family names. In context, these names appear as sons (or descendants) of Jeiel, the founder of Gibeon, whose family is being traced because it connects to the lineage of King Saul, whose genealogy is recorded here and again in 1 Chronicles 8:29-38 in a nearly identical list.
The book of 1 Chronicles was likely written after the Babylonian exile, compiled by a writer traditionally identified as Ezra or someone in his circle, for the Jewish community that had returned to the land. Chapters 1–9 consist almost entirely of genealogies, tracing Israel's tribes from Adam down through the exile and return. The purpose of chapter 9 specifically is to establish who resettled Jerusalem and its surrounding towns after the exile
