A Prayer for a Difficult Decision

Some decisions carry real weight: choices about relationships, work, place, and direction that will shape years of your life. This prayer is for those standing at a crossroads — not looking for a sign from the sky, but asking God to grant the kind of wisdom that comes from above, and the peace that confirms a right direction.

Prayer

Lord, I've come to a place where the path forks and I don't know which way to go.

I've thought about it. I've talked to people I trust. I've made my pros and cons lists. And still I'm not sure. So I'm bringing it to you — because you see further than I do. You know what's ahead on both roads.

Give me wisdom I don't have on my own. Show me what I might be missing. Surface the fears I'm letting drive when I shouldn't, and the things I'm dismissing when I shouldn't.

Help me to want what you want more than what I want. That's a hard prayer. But I know my vision is limited and yours is not.

Give me clarity. Or if not clarity, give me the courage to move forward with what I have. Give me the peace that guards beyond understanding — the kind that settles in when a decision aligns with you even when the outcome is uncertain.

And help me to trust: if I go the wrong way, you can still redeem it. You've done it before.

I'm listening.

Amen.

Anchored in James 1:5 and Proverbs 3:5-6, this prayer holds both the request for clarity and the honest possibility that clarity may not arrive — asking instead for courage and trust.
